Strange National Anthem

At this point I am ashamed to say that I am from the lovely state of Colorado but this is what I picked up on the news tonight and it really just heated me

I wouldn't be enraged...but I think she is a dumbass for saying it isnt politically motivated.It obviously is.If it wasn't then what was so offensive to the Star Spangled Banner.

Keep in mind this is the very state that told my husband years ago in public school teachers should be called by their first name and not by 'sir' or 'ma'am.' His Dad was enraged and my husband was sent to the principal's office for refusing to refer to teachers by their first name.

The brain cells dont get to Colorado fast,apparently.

WOW and what I find the strangest is that no one cares..... this woman disrespected our flag, and everything that our men and women are fighting for..... AND no one cares????? whatev

No offense anyone. But I don't think just because shes black, she has the right to change our anthem for this.

yah i dont think anyone has the right to, regardless of color. everyone is just so afraid they are going to say something to offend "minorities" that they dont say anything.

You know if that was a white person changing the anthem to a song about "whites". People would have had a COW. lol

Well....duh...

Every other race is allowed to have "pride" except for whites.You can be proud of where you came from and not be a Neo Nazi.

Its like implying every black person is in fact African,and was a slave.Sorry,not everyone in the South was rich with cotton fields (my in laws certainly weren't,and Ive seen their land in SC.)Many free people lived elsewhere and worked hard to not be slaves.It is a common misconception...only 5% of the South actually was the whole Gone with the Wind movie.

But I could go on and on about this.

uhhh yah totally agree. there are a lot of things that other races can get away with but if a white person even tried to pull the same thing, we would be racist skinheads. suuuch a double standard. i always tell my husband that i dont want people calling me "white" anymore. that i must be referred to as "western european american." lol since we cant call black people black they are "african american." and i also ask, when is white history month? and where is the white entertainment television channel? and so on and so on.

To be honest, in many parts of the country, the white people ARE the minority. Blacks and Hispanics are the majority. In Baltimore where I live, and the surrounding area, that is most definitely the case. I'm sorry I don't think anyone has the right to do what she did. This is not black america, white america, hispanic america, purple america, yellow america, whatever... It's the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!! We have ONE anthem for us all. That is what she was asked to sing. That is what she agreed to sing. That is what she should have sang. Period.

It is very true that if someone sang an anthem about whites that people would have had a COW. They would have screamed racism from the rooftops. Isn't this the same thing???

i actually believe that in the united states as a whole, whites are the minority. i know in southern california, where im from, thats definitely the case. it is the same thing, but the fact that she is black gives her a card that she can pull at anytime basically saying she can do whatever the frick she wants when she wants because shes black and supposedly her grandparents or great grandparents were oppressed...so now everyone has to pay for it! so dumb.

I'm so sick of that card that I could puke out my feet. The legal race issues were over when I was really young and completely over when all of you were born. Get over it. Yeah. I'm the old fogey here. LOL!

totally agree, it's like many of the black people ask us to move on, but they won't let us! I have a lot of black friends, and they think this type of behavior is dumb too. I mean there are black people that think we should pay for reperations for slavery like we gave the japanese americans reperations. HELLO! we did something wrong, realized and paid only those we affected not everyone that's japanese american, or 2-3 generations later only those that were actually affected! yeah I always complain that there's no white history or irish/german/ ...history month.

And what about how the Irish were treated when they came to this country? They were treated horribly. Blacks were treated like royalty in comparison to the Irish. But those of us of Irish descent don't whine about that all the time and use that as a crutch for everything wrong in our lives. That happened before we were born. Get over it already! Take responsibility for your own actions and your own lives already.

The blacks actually took our jobs once they were freed...See:Gangs of New York.

We worked the coal mines,the fire stations and the police stations loooooooong before the blacks came into the picture.Theres a reason Cops and Firefighters are mostly Italian and Irish even to this day :tongue:

But it is neither here nor there...and the whole point is she shouldn't have said it wasnt a political agenda because it was.America is neither white nor black,or hispanic...we are a country of many faiths and many races,and none of us should be punished for either.That is what makes our country awesome.

As I was saying before i destroyed it.

Regardless of your race we're American's first and foremost and that means our flag and national anthem are what we do to show respect for our nation. Sure you can celebrate your race and there aren't any rules against it. But your nation comes first. People need to learn to respect that and take pride in it. I mean we have freedoms and liberties other countries will never experience.

i totaly agree with a lot of you guys. whites are not able to show thier pride because them they are racist. this is a mix country i dont see every one being black. this is not fair to our flag . honestly ia white person whould have done something like this there would have been more probs. i just think this is crazy . and dh might be stationed in colorado wow.
