What are you going to do? **POLL**

So I've been wondering when you have children or if you already do are you going to home school them or send them to a public school? I wanna know.

When I have my baby, I think I'm gonna home school. I love teaching and think it'll be great.

All my kids are going to be in public school......but I work with my daughter during the summer to keep her up on everything! I plan on doing the same with all my other kids too!

Do you think home school is bad? I want them to learn as much as possible and be able to go on and do great things in their lives, but I know about the social part.

Couldn't I just do playdates or hang outs, where they learn about social interaction?

I seeing nothing at all wrong with home schooling......I had wanted to do that with my daughter but it just wasn't going to be good for us at the time! I give your credit for wanting to do it!

Playdates are definately a good way to get socialization!

My MIL is hardcore against homeschooling(and shes a public school teacher)....we looked at it as an option because of our political views and what we see as the Liberal view points taking over public school.

So public school is out...and we're looking at private Catholic schools.I went to one (I only attended public school for one year,everything else was private.) This way we have more control of what is being taught to our children because WE PAY the teachers,and the school.I liked the smaller class sizes,and I felt I did get a better education.The one year I was in public it was a real struggle since my classmates were not up to par with the education I had been recieving for years.

With that being said,every school varies.I encourage that if you are apart of a certain denomination then stick to that private school.My Dad raised me Catholic and took me to mass on Sundays,but we also went to my stepmom's church which was Episcopalian (sp?). And my school was Assembly of God....so I was getting conflicting religious views always.And sometimes going to church anywhere from 1-3 times/Sunday.Also,my school did have a whole "political clique" and because my parents were not members of said church,I was treated differently.

There's tons of different things to consider.

I went to a private Christian school up until 5th grade and it was a MAJOR shock for me and my brother to move into the public school system. I think going to private school is good because you learn SO much more but then its kind of scary when you think about keeping your kids all sheltered in private school and then when theyre 17 or 18 and graduate sending them out into the real world...i dunno its a hard decision. i guess you just have to try to find some sort of balance.

I went to public school & I had no problems. My friends that I knew who went to all girls school were totally rebellious and out of control [I am sure that's not EVERYONE but they were lol] my neighbors were home schooled and they came out just fine as well! :] They all are great

& I love teaching too :] I am going to school to be a teacher!! :]

I was Homeschooled all through my High School years. And to this day i ask DH all kinds of question about what High school was like. I don't think we'll do it, unless we're in such a bad neighborhood or something!

I'm going to put them in Private school if I can. I felt like I had a better education there.

I'll do public school since I'll be a teacher. I thought about home school, but i and my future kids need to be with other people and make friends.

Well i went to public and dh went to private and he wants the kids to be in private.... But im not sure what we are going to do yet....

definitely public school...we're not very religious so private school is out and they definitely need the socialization skills and the experience of high school and prom and all that so....for sure, no doubt in my mind it's public school.
