| I went to Northern VA Community College for close to 2 years,I was doing a liberal arts major.I didn't take it too seriously and wanted to sneak into bars more than study. Now I know how important a college degree.
I wanna go back once the anklebitter comes...Im looking at American Military University for Counter Terrorism.Theyre online classes and mega reputible so I can get a government job or work for a company like Blackwater.

| ooohhh the counter terrorism sounds pretty interesting. my mom just graduated from the rn program and wow, that was a lot of work. i pretty much hate school. maybe one day i will go back when i will actually value it and take it seriously but for right now i think it would be a waste. | |

i totally agree.I think making kids go to college at 17 (which was when i graduated high school) is a bad idea. Now Im 23 (weeks shy of 24) and I know how important college is.At 18,I was worried about bars and going to shows.Even my husband is slowly coming around to see if anything (god forbid, knock on wood) should happen to him we need something to fall back on.

| exactly! i dont understand why parents are always like, oh you have to go to college right after highschool or youre a loser blah blah blah. my parents were like either go to school or get a job. its a complete waste of time and money to go to school if you dont appreciate it. thats probably why a lot of people change their majors like 4 or 5 times because theyre not really old enough to know what they want to do. im definitely starting to come around to the idea too heh. hopefully your hubby will take advantage of all the benefits the military offers when it comes to school. | |

yeah. i think we're gonna encourage our kid to join the military,or do Peace Corp. So they can "grow up" and go through some "life experiences." I didnt start appreciating college until I was like oh...retail wont pay rent and neither will being a receptionist the rest of my life. While I dont think college is the END ALL ANSWER for a great job, it helps....but you also need experience too.I think keeping someone in college for 4 years and then expecting them to know how to budget, maintain bills, and get a good job is pretty unrealistic. My husband at 21 has had so many amazing experiences and all of his friends are still going to keg parties...haha.What do they have to show for their life so far? Going to frat parties...and their parents pay for everything.

| I always wanted to go to college from the time I knew what college was. I wanted to be a doctor at first, but I wouldn't enjoy that. Now I want to be a mother baby nurse. So when you guys go into the recovery room after labor and delivery I'll be the person checking on you all day or night and helping your baby for the first 2-3 days. I love kids and I want to help people and this is the best way for me because I loved being pregnant and I try to help everyone with their pregnancy as much as possible. I don't want to go to college until Ethan's in school though. I really don't want to wait but for the moment we are going to. | |

| i think we're going to do the same thing. i would have never said i would encourage my kids to join the military but now that we're in, i see all the benefits. i would love to be a nurse in the nursery but i just hate all the crap work you have to do to get to that position...like wiping old peoples butts! bleh | |

An OB nurse? I want to be an OB nurse, or focus on elderly with dementia/Alzheimer's. My grandfather had it. But you wouldn't believe the hoops they're making me jump through to go to college this fall! I was like, are you kidding me?

| I don't know what they would technically be called. When I was in the hospital after having Ethan there deparmant was post partum and they were called Mother/Baby nurses. So I'll be with the newborns while they are in the hospital and making sure that you feel good after the baby. I won't be in the labor and delivery room....after you get out of that and in your recovery room I'll be doing that. | |

| I thought about being a nurse for a while.... i still think about it... but the nursing program at my school is really tough (i live with three nursing students and they are always stressed out). Right now i am getting my BS in biology and a minor in anthropology.... i am planning on either going to Vet school or getting my masters in primatology or something. |
