| So today me and my hubby went to church like we always do but today there were these two teenage boys sitting in front of us with their parents and it made me so mad because everytime they asked us to stand, they would stay sitting! and one of the boys was sitting there all slouched over with his feet on the seat in front of him playing with his hair the entire time. i dont know it just made me really mad to see them acting so disrespectfully at church and with such a bad attitude. i guess i should just be happy that they were there, but i wish that their parents would have smacked them! lol i know my parents would never let me act like that especially in public! ok im done... haha | |

| Yeah my Mom was a tough Italian from South Philly...I got away with napping until I think 1st grade. Then after that I would get my arm yanked,or my head smacked if I didn't sit right or kneel right.
This goes into my whole thing of...'Things are different, than when we were kids...Parents dont give a shit, and I have no qualms in beating the shit out of my kid if they're disrespectful' hahaha.
Parents these days let the internet and tvs babysit their kids instead of actually being parents, and doing their job.
Theres a great Regan quote something along the lines of...The greatest decision for America, happen at the dinner table.
Now I shall embark off my soap box. :D

| Yep.
Age doesnt matter....
My brother who is 4 yrs old from watching old movies with my parents, knows to take off his cowboy hat in front of ladies, and refer to people as 'sir.' hahaha
Things are just different, and I have a few theories what happened along the way...but either way,I have no qualms in saying stuff to other parents esp. in church. We go to Catholic church, and there are just some things...like you dont slam the door, and the priest is the most respected man on Earth...haha.The "old generation" isn't raising kids anymore...My parents wouldn't allow me to wear tank tops,or skirts almost up to my vajayjay at Mass but parents do nowadays.I think kids that dress like that shouldn't be allowed in Mass, and the parents would be forced to go home and change them before they could enter again.
But this is prolly why Im not a nun...haha.

| haha yah i dont think i could ever be a nun either lol. thats so cute about your brother, i love it! i always tell my hubby im glad he joined the navy so that now when we have kids he can impose his military bearing on them :) and as far as dressing! omg...when we were in so cal and would go to the mall to see a movie or eat red robin (mmmmmm) we would always see all these little girls, seriously like 10-12 years old running around with like short skirts and purses and makeup on! we always were like, our daughter will never dress like that! i cant even imagine wanting to dress like that at that age! definitely no purse or makeup and i still to this day would never wear a short skirt lol. | |

| Well I looooooved makeup when I was kid...but my sister would dress me up,my Mom didn't let me go out in public that...haha.Theres dressing up and then theres just being weird.
My husband teaches my brother how to stand at attention, and salute...haha its HYSTERICAL.
Things are different and as long as you realise the difference, and how to not raise your kids then you'll be okay.

| really?!? not me...but i just had an older brother. at that age i wouldve rather hung out with him and gone skateboarding or climbing trees or playing hide n seek or something heh. i never played dress up. plus whenever i asked my mom about makeup when she would put it on she just said, makeup is for old ladies like me that arent naturally beautiful anymore like you. lol wow its really sad when i think about how badly parents are letting their kids down...i mean its only going to hurt the child. i thank my mom and dad everyday that im not a sh**bag lol. | |

| I agree that it should be about respect, but maybe the parent's are at that stage where the kids are rebelling and you can't force them to believe something so they just compromise. I think it's the wrong compromise, b/c you're right it's disrespectful to the pastor, just like the teacher asking the students to stand and they don't it sends a bad message. | |

Exactly! I was going through a weird 'finding my religion' in high school, and I was still respectful when my Dad took me to Mass.

| I grew up Catholic. I'm not anymore. I've raised my girls to be respectful in any church that they are in. We used to attend Catholic church often with my Dad when he was alive to make him happy until he went to mine and found out what my beliefs were all about. Then he stopped asking me to go. But my girls and me always did the Catholic calisthenics when we attended out of respect, even though we don't share the same beliefs. The only thing that I don't do is kneel because I have knee problems, but I would sit at the edge of the seat and it would almost look as if I were kneeling. It's all about respect! | |

| I agree it's totally out of respect, when I went to a mosque I covered my head, went I went to shabbat with my jewish friends I also did as they did, when I went to a catholic service I kneeled... totally agree that they should have done it no matter what I just think parents are finding the wrong areas to compromise. | |

| yes kids definately need to learn respect... we have teenagers here in my apartment complex and they yell and scream and blair their music and are totally disrespectful to the fact that i and everbody else in this builiding ALL have young children... they are literally the only ones.. the past 2 nights they have woke my kids up from their playing soccer in their apartment right above us at 3 a.m in the morning.. they were throwing beer bottles on my private porch that my kids play on... and they were throwing their cigarettes butts on my porch and they were busting beer bottles on their heads where my kids play.. and just left the glass everywhere... at one time me and 4 of my neighbors were up there at 1 time telling them to shut the f*** up, and they literally told us to quit our b*tchin, that they will do what they want.. none of them were at drinking age either, barely 18 and drunk as crap!! and then we had a bunch of other people loitering around the parking lot drinkin and screamin and yellin and waking the kids up also... they were smoking pot literally sitting on their cars... and the sad thing is that their parents actually live in my complex!!!! And i am like OMG watch your freakin kids.. they are ONLY 15 yrs. old...
i called my mom this morning and i was like man if i was ever this disrespectful before i had kids, im gonna kick my own a$$!! lol

| Personally I would be calling the police every time they do it and writing a letter to the property management every time and keep a copy of the letters for your own records. Document the dates and times. Talk to your other neighbors that are having problems with these kids and ask them to do the same. If the management get enough complaints, they will have to do something about the tenants that are causing the problems. Go through your lease and quote from the lease about what section of the lease those children are breaking. They will have to do something then. That's what I would do. | |
