My hubby just got out of boot camp a little over a month ago, and he wrote on Sundays. Well, actually he wrote secretly every night and stuck them all in one envelope on Sunday. lol. My letter days were Thursdays.
My first call was almost 4 weeks after he left. I actually got one call before that, about 2 weeks in, but it was just long enough for him to ask me to fax a copy of mine and our daughter's social security cards.
My husband was in a 900 division, so I was told I might not get as many calls as others. I felt really fortunate get any phone calls though. I know many wives who did not get any phone calls except the one after Battlestations.
Letters and phone calls from boot camp are wonderful though. I honestly cried with every letter I got, and each phone call made me cry as well. You learn to appreciate the little things so much more.

Geez, they really make them wait a long time for any contact. But I guess it is just part of the training, and you really do learn how to appreciate little things more. I seriously though am not liking the Sunday rule, because it is not like they are going to get an immediate response anyway after they write the letter so why not let them write daily? Especially when you have a newborn daughter and you want to know everything that happens. I'm just glad I know that WE can send something daily.

I was actually sitting in the Salon chair getting my hair done when he called for the first time, ha. Thankfully it wasn't a full house or everyone in there would have questioned why I was so emotional, haha.
