| I WISH DB went to boot camp, I hear it's only 8 weeks! DB went to OCS (Officer Candidate School) and it's 12 weeks long :( Why can't boot camp and OCS be closer to where we live?? LOL

| Boot camp was horrible....I lived 2 hours away from boot camp and I just wanted to break in there everyday and go see him. =[ It was hard knowing he was so close yet I couldn't talk to him or see him. A lot of my family was in the marines and I've been through the 12 week boot camp. You just have to stay strong and think about how each minute that passes is a minute closer to you. It's hard at first but after so much time goes by your like wow I can't believe it's almost here. | |

| DB's dad went through OCS for the Marines. You went through boot camp? Wow. I've been sending him a lot of letters. It's good to write them a lot, right?

| DB has bad legs-he's got shin splints that bother him way too much. He found out today that he doesn't have a stress fracture (thank god). When DB gets out of Holding and his legs get better he'll join his class again and he'll graduate to be in Supply and Logistics. After OCS in Newport, his go to Supply and Logistics School in Athens, GA. I'm still learning the Navy lingo... I'm really bad at it, lol

| hehe yah me too. scott will talk to me for like 2 minutes and im just like uhhh i basically have no idea what you just said. wow i hope the mri and everything goes well. scott was on hold inbetween a and c school because he had to wait for his security clearance so i totally understand how frustrating it can be. its like, youre not even doing anything productive so why do you have to be so far away from me?!?! thankfully it wasnt for too long. i am really glad to hear ocs is in newport rhode island because i had read it used to be or maybe still was in pensacola. if he does go to ocs rhode island is a lot closer than florida! will you be able to visit him at all during ocs? like on the weekends or anything? | |

| What's A and C school? I told you I was bad, lol. I know what you mean about the not being productive thing! DB called today and he sounded so miserable because he can't do anything physical until his MRI and he just sits there all day studying OCS. He said it's like jail. He doesn't get liberty for the 4th of july, but he gets the day off, it's like a Sunday but without the church. OCS was in Pensacola and I'm mad they moved it back to Rhode Island! Pensacola would've been a lot closer to me, not much, but at least the same state! Once DB gets liberty which is hopefully the 6th week, if he's realllllly good it could be the 4th week, I can go visit, but since we aren't married (yet, lol) he has to stay off base, but that's fine with me, lol. Only on weekends, like Friday nights to Sundays.

| a and c school are what scott had to go to after boot camp. they were training for his job. thats way cool that you get to go visit him. scott is all like, "i dont want to go to boot camp again!" but i keep telling him i think it is alot different than enlisted boot camp. you'll have to keep my updated on how it is for ryan... like lots of yelling and really hard physically and stuff like that. i know its really hard but just hang in there and know that the time spent apart makes it that much sweeter when you get back together! | |

| It's really hard-basically half the day they're doing physical stuff and half the day they're in the classroom memorizing and taking tests. The first week is called P week-they process all your papers, doctor records, dental records, etc. They have to PAY to have their heads shaved $8. They have to PAY for their uniform (s) $2000-ish. Not kidding. The first couple weeks they can only eat with a spoon- DB said he had to eat a hamburger with a spoon! They wake up at 4:30 and go to this sandy area called 'The Rose Garden" even though it's literally like a sandy beach and they do push-ups in the sand and run in the sand and it's just really physical. DB's voice sounds a little sore because he's not used to yelling. They can't talk to the girls in their class. But he was allowed to take his cell phone and his car.

| it does sound a lot like boot camp, with a little bit more liberty. the first week of boot camp they did all the processing too. scott had to pay for all of his uniforms too, he said about $550 and to get his haircut too. i think they just take it out of your check right? i remember the first time i talked to scott when he was at boot camp and i couldnt even recognize his voice! his voice was soooo deep from all the yelling that he was doing. probably the fact that i hadnt talked to him in a few weeks made it harder to recognize his voice too but it was definitely a lot deeper! that is way cool that he got to take his cell phone and car with him. scott said a lot of guys in boot camp get really bad shin splints! that sucks though i hope he gets off hold soon. thanks for all the info! | |

| Oh man. We decided to have a baby after 2 months of knowing each other and one month of being together. He went to boot camp when I was 6 weeks pregnant. And then we got married after 6 months of being together. You know when a person is right for you. They always say you know and you wonder how but when it happens your like so this is what they were talking about! | |

| DB really wants to go to Seattle or Hawaii. He wants to go the the west coast because he's lived on the east coast his whole life.
When I first met DB I felt like I had known him forever! We've never had one of those 'uncomfortable silences.' I am in love with him :)

| He can put in for where he wants to go but since he is the lowest notch on the totem pole they will send him where they NEED him.Once he gets rank, rank then he can turn down or demand better orders. My husband is up for reenlistment in Aug.2009,he will either crossrate and get new orders OR get out and join a different branch (we're looking at Army and Coast Guard right now.)
For your sake and his,I hope they dont screw you guys over like my husband.'Join the Navy...See the world...We're just gonna station you back in your home state so you're only 3 hours from your whole family.' DH has grown up in Northern Virginia for the past oh....5 or 6 years (he was Air Force Brat),and they stationed him in Norfolk,Virginia. Not San Diego...or Seattle but friggin Norfolk...hahaha.And he got deployed straight outta bootcamp too.

| How does OCS work? My hubby is waiting on a conditional release from army reserves to go ad Navy and they said they want to get him into OCS. I did hear it's in RI, but what is visitation like? I mean we started our relationship long distance and such, but we were able to talk every night, do they get to talk on their phones at all? I was reading on the website that after they would go to a skill school, do we as wives get to go with them? And then at least for intelligence there is a 30 month operational fleet tour. What in the world is that and how does it affect us as wives? Thanks for any help ladies. | |
